Tom's Biography

Tom Gees, PGA golf professional of more than 40 years, is experienced in teaching at all levels. He was a golf professional in Milwaukee and Chicago, and played professionally on the mini-tour circuit. For 14 years, Tom was the Director of Golf at the 4-Star Rancho Las Palmas Resort in the Palm Springs, California area. His golf operation won numerous awards.

Tomís golf skills have been featured on the nationally syndicated program, Inside Golf, and the southwestern United States Visitors Video cable network. He was selected to be a featured instructor on promotional videos for golf equipment manufacturers and the PGAís Southern California Golf Almanac television show. His golf tip columns have appeared in numerous west coast newspapers and Tom has been a Golf Performance Consultant for Los Angeles Centinela Hospitalís noted fitness institute. PGA Business Schools, universities, and golf expositions have featured Tom as a guest speaker.

Over the years PGA and LPGA tour players have sought Tomís advice. His corporate golf clinics have included many star players, including Jack Nicklaus, Jan Stephenson, Dave Stockton, Scott Simpson, Chi Chi Rodriguez and John Cook to name just a few. A strong working knowledge of the Rules of Golf, along with experience in tournament situations helped Tom to be chosen as a Rules Official at PGA Tour Qualifying Schools.

Celebrity players who have worked with Tom include Baseball Hall of Fameís George Brett; former Green Bay Packers, Bart Starr and Jerry Kramer; Hockeyís Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky; TVís announcer, Bryant Gumbel and Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalist, Dorothy Hamill. Additionally, Tom is noted for his work with many Fortune 500 business leaders and executives.

Other players have distinguished themselves through Tomís instruction: two-time Minnesota Womenís Amateur Champion, four-time Minnesota Player of the year, and Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame member, Claudia Pilot; Tom taught and coached Conrad Ray, Stanford University menís golf coach and former teammate of Tiger Woods; and Ryan Quinn, former NCAA Division III, first-team All-American; Jill Preeshl, NCAA Division II, first team All American; and Josh Manske, NAIA first team All American.

Tomís collegiate players have included Jeff Kaiser, a former top player for the University of Wisconsin. Kelly Robb, from Concord, Massachusetts was ranked #17 Junior in the world and played for Northwestern University. Andrew Alexander, former Minnesota High School State Champion, played #1 for Villanova University. Brady Strangstalien, now a PGA Professional, won the Wisconsin State Amateur. Shelem Vickers finished in the top 25 of the 14-15 age group at the U.S. Teen Amateur at Pinehurst, NC.

Tomís Juniors from California and the Midwest have gone on to play top college golf. They have won at every level from 10-12 year olds to High School State Champions. Tom is credited with producing 5 Boyís State Junior Amateur Champions, a Girlís State Junior Amateur Champion, 6 Boyís High School State Champions, and a Girlís High School State Champion.

Where Tom has worked with all members of a high school golf team, his players have won three State High School Team Championships. Other accomplishments include the coaching of a high school All-American player, a State Westfield Junior Champion, and a Girlís State Country Club Championship team. His junior players have done well on the AJGA junior tour, in the United States Junior Amateur, U.S. Teen Amateur, and the Optimist International tournament in Florida. To date, Tom has 13 Junior golfers who have joined golfís professional ranks.

Even though Tom Gees has produced a significant number of successes in competitive golf situations, his most cherished accomplishments still come from helping the average golfer or beginner develop a lifetime love for the game of golf through new-found ability to play well.
